As the warm starts to slowly creep in, more people are looking to go out and find fun activities. Fortunately for the people who live in Puyallup, WA apartments, there is a great opportunity close by. In Tacmoa Washington, residents are able to find the Museum of Glass , one of the most interesting museums around. Once you get inside the Museum, the first thing you will notice is that there are two main sections. One is a gallery, where you can see the artwork that has been made. The other section is glassworks, where you can watch people as they create various glass objects. The gallery is filled with both temporary and permanent glass collections. In the permanent collections you can expect to find many different categories of art on display, ranging from contemporary pieces to classical works of art. The museum is also filled with artwork from the Visiting Artist Residency Program; when artists are on residency, they are expected to donate at least one artistic piece to the museum. This collection is always growing and contains some pieces created by internationally renowned artists. The workshop or Hot Shop is generally a favorite of most visitors. In the Hot Shop you will be able to watch as various artists spend hours glassblowing to bring their artistic ideas to life. During this event you will be able to ask questions, and sometimes you may even be asked to offer input, and help design an artistic piece. The artists that you can expect to see are not just showing a demo of glassblowing; these people are real artists creating their own works of art. If youre looking for something fun to do as the weather gets nicer, you cant go wrong with the Museum of Glass. Its something you will remember, and talk about for years to come.

During the winter season, it can be hard to maintain the active lifestyle we live in the summer. When its too cold and wet for running, cycling, or climbing our options can seem somewhat limited. That said, just because its wet outside doesnt mean we must relegate ourselves to the couch of our Puyallup, WA apartment for the next several months. If you want to avoid that dreaded winter slump, consider heading down to Mount Rainier National Park and exploring the Mount Tahoma Hut and Trail system . The MTAA system is the largest No-Fee, hut-to-hut trail system in North America! The system has trails of varying difficulty, ensuring there is an option for cross-country skiers of all skill levels. Visitors have access to roughly 50 miles of trails, 20 of which are groomed, 4 huts and a yurt. I should point out that the term Hut only loosely applies in this situation. For me, the word brings to mind images of old dilapidated buildings or lean-tos. A tiny, open-to-the-elements structure you might expect to find along sections of the Appalachian Trail. The structures you find along the MTAA system are no such huts. No, these are full blown cabins - some of which can sleep up to 14 people! These huts are outfitted with kitchen tables, chairs and even silverware, so youve got everything you need to enjoy gourmet cooking in the backcountry. Propane stoves, LED lights and sleeping pads on hand mean you only need to bring a sleeping bag, food and your gear to enjoy a night of serene tranquility in the shadow of Mount Rainier. Visitors have several options when visiting the trail system. The North District offers only one hut, but is the most accessible to individuals who are newer to the sport. A popular family destination, The Copper Creek Hut is a short 3.2 mile track from the trailhead at Sno-Park A. These groomed trails are suitable for adventurers of all skill levels. The remaining huts, along with the yurt, can be reached from the South District. From the trailhead at Sno-Park B, visitors begin with a moderate climb for a little under 1.5 miles, before reaching the saddle. From here you can head right, toward the high hut, or left and head toward Snow Bowl hut and the Yurt. Many athletes choose to combine these trails in a number of ways to create a longer loop. If this sounds like your style, consider starting at Sno-Park B, heading first to the High Hut, then doubling back and heading to the Yurt for the night. One of the most amazing things about MTAA is that they are a non-profit organization. This means that, apart from a nominal $15 permit processing fee for overnight stays, the system is open to the public for free! Thats right; day trekkers can stop by any of the huts or the yurt during the day, use the facilities to eat lunch, then head back out before it gets too late - all at no cost! As with all things like this, the leave no trace rule applies. Reservations can be made in person at Whittaker Mountaineering in Ashford, or right at the MTTA office on weekends during the winter season. They are offered on a first come, first served basis, so plan your trip in advance! By the time you get back from your excursion into the snowy abyss, youll likely be exhausted. You may struggle even making it all the way into your bed. But that feeling of being so spent that you begin to debate whether or not you actually need to eat is exactly why you headed out there in the first place, isnt it? So make a cup of tea, curl up in front of the fireplace in your Willow Hill apartment for rent in Puyallup, WA, then do nothing but sit for a while. Youve earned it.

During the holiday season, many of us leave giftwrapping to the very last minute. When we finally do get around to it we find ourselves staying up late in our Puyallup, WA, apartments, just trying to get everything covered. Whether it be conventional wrapping paper, one of those gift bags that have been circulating through the family for decades, or even worse, newspaper, it doesnt matter in the sleep deprived frenzy of last minute giftwrapping. But it doesnt have to be that way; with a bit of planning, some supplies and a little bit of work, your gifts will be the ones catching everybodys eyes next year. Shirt and Tie Rules Apply If wrapping paper can be compared to a dress shirt, I look at the ribbon as a tie. If you have a solid color or simple pattern on the paper, you can be a little bolder with your choice of ribbon. If, however, you chose paper with a dominant pattern, simply counteract this by using an understated ribbon in a solid tone. The first thing I do when buying wrapping paper is find a roll in a nice, solid color; I have been favoring matte finishes the last few years but glossy papers work just as well. After choosing two or three colors that work well with one another I move on to the ribbon. Because of the solid colors we chose for the paper we have a little more freedom with the ribbon. I like to go with a bold paisley or striped pattern to contrast with the muted tones of the wrapping paper. Brown Paper Packages Perhaps you want more of a classic look for your gifts. You can always revert to the timeless look of a package wrapped in brown postal paper tied together with string. Here, you can use traditional twine or mix things up with red or blue strings. The colored accents really stand out against the earthy backdrop of the paper. Its The Pleats You can give gifts a little something extra by folding pleats into the paper before wrapping. While this looks extremely complicated, and I see no reason to tell anyone otherwise, it is surprisingly simple. All you do is add a couple of inches to the length of the paper you are wrapping with. Find where you want the pleat to lay and mark the paper at this location at several points across the width of the paper. Measure about 1 up from each point and leave a second mark. Now, you pinch the paper at the second point, initiating the fold, and tuck it down until the pleat covers each of the marks you made. Repeat this process for each pleat you wish to add; I have found that 3 or 4 usually does the trick. Size and placement of the pleats, like with ribbons, is completely up to you. I like to mix things up so some gifts have thick pleats running horizontally across the center of the box while others have thin, vertical pleats 1/3 of the way in from the left side. Mix and match with different sizes and placements to add variety to the mass of gifts piling up beneath the tree. Music to Their Eyes? Do you have a musician on your shopping list this year? Try wrapping some of the smaller gifts in oversized sheet music! You can order sheet music from one of their favorite artists through a number of online retailers. You can get then wrap the gift with the paper as-is, or you can age the paper by painting it with coffee or tea and letting it dry. This will give it a much more rustic look; but beware, the aging process can weaken the paper so it is best to avoid any unnecessary folding (sorry, this means no pleats). There you have it. Just because giftwrap is inevitably torn to pieces and thrown to the floor in a heap doesnt mean your gifts need to look like they were wrapped by a 4 year old. No; instead the front room of your South Hill, WA, apartment can look like a storefront window! Not only will these stylized wrapping tips give the area beneath the tree a sense of stylistic consistency, but they are sure to make the recipients pause and appreciate the time you took to prepare their gift in such a thoughtful way. And, after all, its the thought that counts, right?

So you want to mix things up in your Willow Hill apartment but dont know how? Many people feel like there is nothing they can do if painting the walls isnt an option. While painting the walls is a good way to change the look of your JBLM Housing, it is far from the easiest. Furthermore, very few apartment communities allow this level of change to their property. Well, dont worry because there are a number of inexpensive alternatives to painting that wont permanently damage your apartment. One option is to use large canvases to cover the walls. This can get pricey depending on the size of canvas but it provides an incredible look. Geometric patterns or minimalist designs work well if you are starting with a blank canvas or you can buy a piece from a store like Ikea. An alternative to this idea is to cover an entire wall in picture frames and mirrors. They dont all have to have pictures in them either. In fact, many people choose empty frames on purpose because they like the look. This has a similar effect to the canvases but can be done much cheaper. A unique idea Ive seen on design sites lately is to cover a wall, or section of a wall, with doilies. Starting from the bottom and moving left to right, use painters tape to secure doilies to the wall. Work your way up, row by row, until you reach the top. Secure the top row with clear thumbtacks and you are good to go. Bonus style points are available if you add color by spray painting the doilies before hanging. Another idea for the crafty individuals among us is to tape colored streamers to the wall vertically. The lines created by the streamers are visually appealing and give the place an open feel. Because of the potential for very bold color schemes, I recommend using this technique only for smaller accent walls. One of the cooler alternatives I have seen to painting involves attaching fabric to the wall using starch and a paint roller! You can choose any fabric you want, just so long as it is relatively lightweight (sorry Denim Dan, I dont know that youll be able to cover the wall in your old Wranglers). By following these instructions you will have a stylish and unique living room in no time! If you dont like any of these options there are still things you can do. A quick internet search for Wall Decals pulls up a huge selection of retailers offering a truly incredible product. These wall decals are made from vinyl and can be put up or taken down in minutes. Furthermore, many retailers are able to create decals from pictures YOU submit! Thats right, you could look out at the Cancun beach you went to on your honeymoon every day, and see it at actual size from your living room! You can also choose from cheaper, simpler designs if you want something a little less in your face. These are great for making a bold statement with your décor without losing your deposit. With all this in mind, I hope I have helped you find a way to cover your walls in a unique way that wont get you in trouble with the property manager. Who cares that you cant paint the walls of your apartment near Pierce College? With options like the ones Ive listed above youll have your place looking fresh in no time, and at a fraction of the cost!

Winter is right around the corner; are you ready? Whether youre a seasoned veteran of the winters in Puyallup, Washington, or you just moved here, there are a number of things you need to keep in mind during this winter season to ensure your comfort and safety. Emergency Prep You never know when disaster will strike and a powerful enough snowstorm can leave large areas of the state without power or water. Make sure your 72 hour kits are stocked and up to date with nonperishable food and plenty of clean water. Keep them in a safe place in your South Hill, WA apartment, where everyone will know to look should they need to. Car Prep If you drive then youll need to take certain precautions to ensure your safety on the road when conditions get bad. Snow tires are a great idea but financially unrealistic for many. If in a pinch, you can slightly increase traction by releasing some of the air out of your tires. Careful though, release too much air and you could damage your rim by driving around on a flat tire! You should also keep a small collapsible shovel in the trunk along with some basic emergency supplies. These include some kitty litter, hand warmers and an emergency blanket. The shovel and kitty litter can be used to get your car out should you get stuck. The hand warmers and emergency blanket are there in case you are unable to dig yourself out. Home Prep Even the nicest, double hung windows can leak. Not only does this make your home less comfortable, it has a direct effect on your utility bills. There are several different options for stopping drafts dead in their tracks but the cheapest, and easiest method is to use a window insulator kit. These can be found in most hardware stores for under $20 and will allow you to cover your windows in a translucent plastic film. While not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing option, the plastic creates a barrier that traps air and slows the rate at which heat escapes from the window, helping your house stay warmer, longer. Once you have taken care of these three things you should be all set. You can curl up confidently in your apartment for rent in Puyallup, WA and relax knowing that you will be prepared for whatever old man winter throws your way.
